WVIU Music Awards: FAQ & Requirements

WVIU Music Awards FAQs

How Are Nominees Determined/Chosen?

Nominees are determined by our WVIU Music Award Voting Members. Our team carefully selects Music Artists that they believe fit within the categories available for nomination. Often, voting members will begin by selecting WVIU artists that we air on our station and select those who have demonstrated stamina, determination, sincerity, and focus in music ministry and have been consistent in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some nominees are pitched to voting members by other WVIU staff members (Station Manager, Owner, Our Radio Show Hosts, Programmers, etc.) as they encounter qualified candidates throughout the year.

.

How Are Winners Determined?

WVIU Music Award Winners are determined by the fans and listeners. After voting opens on September 10th, anyone will be able to cast their vote(s) for the solo artist, band, group, songwriter, producer, etc. of their choice.

.

How Can I Vote?

Voting is available on our official website under the "WVIU Music Awards" tab. Anyone can vote to help in determining the overall winner in each category. We currently allow unlimited voting, however, this is subject to change in the years to come. Winners will be announced during our Annual November Ceremony and after, each winner will be posted here on our official website. Voting closes at 5pm CST upon the deadline stated on the voting poll or via other WVIU announcements.

WVIU Radio Music Awards – Performance & Nomination Requirements

Dear Artists and Ministers of the Gospel,

Thank you for your interest in the WVIU Radio Music Awards in April! This event is a celebration of the incredible work God is doing through Christian music, and we are honored to recognize those who serve the Kingdom through their gifts.

Selection Process & Ministry Vision

  • Chosen Through Prayer: Both nominations and performance opportunities are selected through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We seek to honor God’s direction above all else.
  • Limited Performance Slots: Due to time constraints, we are unable to accommodate every artist who wishes to perform. If you are not selected, please do not take it personally—there will be future opportunities.
  • Final Decisions: Performance selections are made by the WVIU Radio team and the FOFMI board, with decisions based on character, integrity, Holy Spirit discernment, and God’s leading for the event.
  • Last-Minute Changes: We follow the leading of the Lord, which means unexpected changes to the lineup may occur. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we strive to remain in alignment with His will.

.

Important Note About the Event Format

Unlike the WVIU Gospel Music Showcase, which is solely focused on performances, the WVIU Radio Music Awards is a structured award ceremony with greater time constraints, which includes the announcing of multiple categories. Additionally, this event is held in conjunction with the Interfaith University graduation (www.InterfaithU.net), which further limits available performance time. Because of this, we must ensure that we remain within our allotted time slots.

Performance Requirements

  • Song Preparation: Each artist must be prepared to perform two (2) songs, though they may only have time for one due to the strict event schedule.
  • Performance Time Limit: Each artist will have approximately 7 minutes on stage (2 songs max).
  • Event Timing:
    • Standard event start time: 10:00 AM CST
    • Artists must arrive one hour before the event begins, meaning 9:00 AM CST arrival time is mandatory.
  • Song Submission:
    • Email MP3 versions of your two songs to wviuradio@gmail.com at least two weeks before the event to ensure smooth audio transitions.
  • Instrumentalists: If you are performing with an instrument, you are responsible for bringing your own. A basic PA system (microphones, speakers, and standard audio equipment) will be provided, but any additional equipment needs must be handled by the artist.

Communication & Contact Information

  • For any questions regarding WVIU Radio or FOFMI events, please email wviuradio@gmail.com or visit our official website at wviuradio.net.
  • While our Station Manager, Dr. Victoria "Tori Tellem" Hoffman, is well-known on social media, we kindly ask that you do not reach out to her directly via Facebook or personal DMs regarding nominations, performance slots, or event details. Due to her responsibilities in managing WVIU Radio, overseeing over 300 music artists, running multiple businesses (ToriTellem PR Associates, ToriTellemMusic, & Tori Tellem Tours & Performances), and pursuing a double doctorate, she is unable to personally respond to every message.
  • If you need to contact Dr. Tori for business or ministry inquiries specifically related to her personal brand and music, please email toritellemnow@gmail.com.

Final Thoughts

We love and appreciate each of you and the calling God has placed on your lives. If space permitted, we would have every artist perform, but we trust in God’s perfect timing and orchestration. This event is about more than awards—it’s about lifting up the name of Jesus and honoring those who do the same.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and commitment to the Gospel. We look forward to celebrating with you at the WVIU Radio Music Awards!

In His Service,
WVIU Radio Team
